Excess Usage Of Digital Media

The internet has probably been man’s greatest invention, which created a virtual world that can be credited as a huge human accomplishment.

There have been several advancements in digital media: both hardware and software.

No one can deny the fact that the impact of digital media is quite noticeable in our society, and you sure know it has both positive and negative effects.

Digital media is simple words is a way to express our opinions or thoughts digitally. It is a quick and easy tool for communication.

We can spread our opinions through various forms such as audio, video, and graphics which can be conveyed through various digital platforms.

“Digital media has destroyed much of the magic and mystery of the medium.”

John Dyer
Pros and Cons of Digital media

Digital media enhances the learning process.

It has played important role in the field of education. In this Pandemic time I have learned many new courses, it helped us to remain connected with our loved ones virtually, and online learning and classes when school and colleges were closed.

Because of the internet, people can express their experience or knowledge over the world.

Social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter help us reach more people and platforms like LinkedIn also helps us build more networks and create new connections.

It helps us to raise voices against social issues, and bloggers can develop highly engaged readers by promoting their blogs on a social media platform like us. Don’t you think so?

Digital business has been in demand in the present world. If you want to sell something, you can sell it through digitally. Especially at this pandemic, it has become a boom. So many business entrepreneurs have started marketing themselves digitally and have become so well known.

If you want to market your product, you can market it too using digital media by leveraging Digital Marketing strategies like social media marketing, and email marketing, etc.

It also helps us to gather real-time information about what is happening in the world.

If you are a die heart fan of cricket, then you can catch the live updates on your phone or record the match and watch it later on the device.

Newspapers are a source of knowing the latest information about what is going on in the world.

Traditionally Newspapers were in a lot more demand, but now there is a question which is arising “Is newspaper necessary?”

This is because whatever we get in the newspaper, we see in a news channel, or get the latest post on a smartphone then why read the newspaper?

Increasingly, addiction to mobile devices, addiction to social networking sites, such as Facebook, Instagram are prevalent in our society. Excessive usage of these leads to withdrawal symptoms such as feeling anger, tension, and depression when Internet access is not available. This makes individuals dependent on the internet.

We all have heard how playing games on a computer or a gaming console harms our eyesight or does nothing to produce any physical work.

The new generation gets in touch with internet access early in their development, which has a significant effect on cognitive development if used in excess.

If we use gadgets in excess, then we can have a significant effect on our health like the inability to remember things, having diminished ability to read, loss of analytical thinking, and slow information processing.

Google has a lot of information stored in it. So when we want to search for a particular topic, it becomes difficult for a reader to choose, when there is a variety of information on the same topic. It leads to confusion rather than giving clarity.

The usage of digital media has been in increasing, but due to excess usage of social media people are lacking social skills. People get angry and impatient very easily, at very small things due to the excess usage of gadgets.

Social media is useful in many ways but it is also harmful, therefore we have to draw a line for how much time to use social media and that is very important.

I have a great idea. I follow this and it is of great help. Now in our smartphones, we also have a feature where we can set up phone usage time for the day. After that limit, you will get a reminder. So you know that it’s time for you to shut your phone and do something else. Try this, it does work.

So friends let’s share knowledge and grow. Let me know how you have planned your day with digital media.

  4. Print media is still relevant because it gives more trusted and reliable news than online resources. After all, reporters of newspapers work on ground level. Also, you won’t found local news often on internet especially if you are living in a small town or village.
